(The message states, Ragnarr is slaying men down while berserk, cleveing through people like its nothing, which is followed by him being slain by one of the soldiers. He doesn't die in a dual, and he's not fighting anyone. When you remove your ruler as a general by assigning a new general in his spot, sometimes the game leaves him in command of some minor unit in the larger army.Originally posted by Gandalf the brown:So my guy is (immortal) He's maxed on in the warriors guild, he's got over 400pc and with over 100 martial. To check, open the main character window and make sure it says he is ruling in XXXX and not leading troops in XXXX. Once you engage the enemy, you can't remove him, except between sieges/battles while moving to a new county. The siege will continue and your ruler will have been magically transported home to safety. Then remove the movement command (just select the army stack and hit escape) and unpause the game. Remove your general by appointing someone else to that unit or raising a small levy at home if possible and assigning him there. If you're army is sieging a holding, pause the game and then move the army to an adjacent province. But you can change it while the army is moving and not fighting. If you forget and your general is leading troops, even as commander of a smaller unit with 3 main generals over the whole stack, you can't change while the army is fighting or sieging. Of course, you'll either have to pay a monthly cost for using demense troops or take an opinion hit. Just keep him as general of a small stack. ![]() This also works to keep your general from being assigned to lead troops when you're a vassal of someone else. During the war, if you raise any additional troops, always check to be sure the game didn't make your ruler a general before sending them off to fight. Then either keep that small army with him as the general or disband it (as long as you don't raise any more demense troops). Assign your ruler as the general of this stack and organize your other troops as usual. To prevent this, when you raise your armies keep one small levy stack separate. Even if you've already assigned the 3 main flank generals to a stack, he'll be assigned as the commander of one of the smaller demense units. The most common cause of your ruler commanding an army when you don't wish him to do so is: your ruler is automatically assigned by the game as a general of the new stack when you raise a demesne levy, your personal castle troops (not your retinue).
